Copyright & DMCA Policy
Last updated: April 1, 2026
1. Purpose & Our Commitment
RemoveVocals respects intellectual property rights and the copyright protections afforded by law. This policy explains how we address copyright and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) concerns, and outlines user responsibilities when using our service.
2. Nature of RemoveVocals
RemoveVocals is a browser-based audio processing tool, not a content hosting platform.
RemoveVocals is fundamentally similar to consumer software like photo editors, video editors, or digital audio workstations (DAWs). Key characteristics:
- RemoveVocals does NOT host, store, distribute, or transmit any audio files
- All audio processing happens 100% on the user's device, locally in their browser
- We have no access to, visibility of, or control over the audio users process
- We do not maintain databases or libraries of copyrighted content
- Users download their processed audio directly to their own devices
- RemoveVocals is a tool that users control; we provide the technology, not the content
3. User Responsibility & Permitted Uses
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to process any audio through RemoveVocals. Permitted uses include:
- Audio you own: Remixing, editing, or processing your own original audio or voice recordings
- Licensed audio: Processing audio that you have a valid license to use (e.g., royalty-free music, Creative Commons with appropriate permissions)
- Fair use: Educational, transformative, or fair use purposes as permitted under copyright law in your jurisdiction
- Authorized content: Audio where the copyright holder has explicitly authorized processing or derivative works
- Public domain: Audio in the public domain
4. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use RemoveVocals for:
- Copyright infringement: Processing copyrighted audio without authorization from the copyright holder, except as permitted by fair use
- DRM circumvention: Circumventing Digital Rights Management (DRM), copy protection, or other technological protection measures
- Unauthorized commercial distribution: Creating or distributing commercial products from copyrighted material without authorization
- Counterfeiting licenses: Attempting to obtain rights you do not have by falsely claiming fair use or ownership
- Systematic infringement: Repeatedly processing copyrighted material in violation of copyright law
- Facilitating infringement: Helping others infringe copyright through the use of RemoveVocals
5. Important: RemoveVocals Is Not a Host or Distributor
Critical Disclaimer: RemoveVocals does NOT host, store, distribute, or transmit any copyrighted content. We are a tool provider, similar to Microsoft Word or Adobe Audition. Like these tools, RemoveVocals has no responsibility for the content users create or process.
Because we never have access to your audio files, we cannot:
- Monitor what audio you process
- Prevent copyright infringement at the point of processing
- Know whether audio is copyrighted or authorized
- Filter or block specific audio
- Store or recover audio files
- Be liable for user misuse of our technology
The responsibility for legal audio use lies entirely with the user, not with RemoveVocals. Just as a camera manufacturer is not liable for photos someone takes with a camera, RemoveVocals is not liable for audio someone processes with our tool.
6. DMCA Takedown Procedure
Although RemoveVocals does not host or distribute copyrighted content, we recognize that copyright holders may wish to report concerns. If you believe RemoveVocals facilitates or enables copyright infringement, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice to:
Copyright Agent:
Célian Ghelid
NOTHING SAS
58 rue de Monceau
75008 Paris, France
SIREN: 892 798 208
Email: contact@removevocals.ai
Note: We will review DMCA notices, but we must emphasize that RemoveVocals does not host or distribute content. DMCA notices should describe specifically how our tool facilitates infringement, not merely allege that users might misuse it.
7. DMCA Notice Requirements
For a DMCA notice to be valid, it must include:
- Your physical signature or electronic signature
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location (specific and detailed)
- Your contact information (name, address, phone, email)
- Your statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright holder
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized
- Acknowledgment that you understand the legal consequences of false claims
Notices that do not meet these requirements may not be processed. False or bad-faith DMCA notices can result in legal liability for the sender.
8. Counter-Notification
If we remove content or disable access in response to a DMCA notice, and you believe this removal was made in error, you may submit a counter-notification asserting that you have the right to use the material. Counter-notifications must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the material that was removed and its original location
- Your statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief that the removal was erroneous
- Your name, address, phone number, and email
- A statement that you consent to jurisdiction in the courts of Paris, France
- A statement that you will accept service of process from the copyright claimant
Upon receipt of a valid counter-notification, we may restore access to the disputed material within 10-14 business days.
9. Repeat Infringer Policy
We maintain a policy of terminating user accounts for users who are determined to repeatedly violate copyright law through RemoveVocals. However, because we have no visibility into what users process (all processing is client-side), we rely on:
- Valid DMCA takedown notices related to our service
- Repeated violations reported and substantiated
- Account-specific evidence of deliberate, repeated misuse
Account termination decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and only after substantiation of repeated infringement directly tied to user behavior on RemoveVocals.
10. Fair Use Reminder
Copyright law in many jurisdictions recognizes "fair use" — the right to use copyrighted material without permission in certain circumstances. Fair use considerations include:
- The purpose and character of use (educational, transformative, commentary, criticism)
- The nature of the copyrighted work
- The amount of the original work used
- The effect on the market value of the original work
Important: Fair use is context-dependent and varies by jurisdiction. It is not a blanket permission. If you believe your use qualifies as fair use, you should consult with a legal professional. RemoveVocals cannot provide legal advice about whether your specific use is fair use.
11. Intellectual Property Rights
RemoveVocals, including the RemoveVocals name, logo, website design, code, and underlying technology, is owned by NOTHING SAS and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. No part of RemoveVocals may be reproduced, distributed, or transmitted without our express written permission, except as necessary for lawful use of the service.
12. Governing Law
This Copyright & DMCA Policy is governed by the laws of France. Any disputes arising from copyright or DMCA-related matters shall be resolved in the courts of Paris, France.
13. Disclaimer of Liability
RemoveVocals is a neutral tool. We do not monitor, screen, or control the audio that users process. Because all processing is client-side and we have no access to user audio, we cannot prevent infringement before it occurs. We are not liable for user misuse of RemoveVocals or for damages resulting from user copyright infringement, just as a software vendor is not liable for how users apply their software.
